Turnaround - Nashville

ArrivalDate 11/6/2015- Nashville Music City

We droveup from Chattanooga on Friday morning and arrived about 1 PM. The RV park was 12 miles north of Nashville. It had a nice vibe to it and the people were very friendly but the RV’s were really jammed in close and there was a heavily used train track next to the park. Again very good WIFI. Nashville is a great music city. We had a performer (Noah Gardner) living in our RV Park but we did not see him perform when we went into Nashville. Friday night we went into Nashville and toured Broadway. We went into four or five places but spent most of our time in Crossroads. Amanda Daughtry was the early set performer at Crossroads and we though she was the best we saw that night. I liked her good enough to buy her CD. Below is a cut (Don’t Let It Hit Ya, Album of the same name) from her album:

We spent 4 to 5 hours watching nightlife (both performers and people watching). We really like Nashville on the weekend for listening to music in clubs.

Saturday was an off day shopping and hanging in the hood. Sunday is go out to breakfast day and we are in Waffle House territory. We are big fans of Waffle House and it never disappoints. The key for me is Hash browns, smothered(cheese), covered(onions), peppered(jalapeno peppers) and topped(chilli). Sunday afternoon is football, the Patriots were playing the Washington Redskins. We went out to Hooters to watch the game. They had 15 plus screens and they must have had 10 or more playing the Patriots-Redskins game. It was a good game since the Pats won. The boneless wings had the hottest garlic pepper sauce we have ever had.

Linda even managed to sneak in a wash while in Nashville. Next stop Memphis and Tom Sawyer RV Park on the Mississippi.

Well here we are on the Mississippi. The stop in West Memphis is just an overnight travel stop but it was fun and interesting. We have a front row spot on the Mississippi River. By parking backwards to the utilities (it means that I need to run them under the coach) we get to look out or front window over the Mississippi River. After we arrived and set up we strolled along the Mississippi. We sat on a bench in front of our rig and watched the river traffic, talked to other RVers, Kacey met several dogs (including a very cool Tennessee Walker Hound with a Mickey Mouse set of markings), and watched the sunset. We got a recommendation for a good Memphis BBQ joint. Off we went for dinner at Central BBQ. The place was a classic, and the food was very good. What a nice evening.

The next stop is just an overnight on the way to Shreveport. We were originally going to stop in Little Rock but there is severe weather comming in and we wanted to go further before the weather arrived. Hopefully we will be out of the heavy weather path. The next stop was in Texarkana AR. This was just an overnight stop with no sightseeing. It was a nice RV Park with a dog run which Kacey loved. The next day was a short run to Shreveport/Bossier City. We missed the bad weather except for a fair amount of rain. We stayed at Diamond Jacks Casino RV Park. Nice little park and reasonably priced. There appers to be little special about this area except there are several casino’s. Diamond Jacks was an older nice casino. Not real big but homey. I hit the coldest blackjack table I have seen in a long time. No win in this place. The last night we were there Kacey met a Kerry Blue Terrier in the RV Park. Another Irish breed terrier, how cool.

We found a decent storage facility to leave the rig. It ended up costing $64 for the two months we will be storing it. We will drop it off November 13, 2015 and start in Little Roo for the ride back to Litchfield NH. We estimate 4 days back. 1600+ miles.
