Apache Junction AZ - 2

Phoenix AZ area -  Apache Junction AZ - Meridian RV Resort - 2

We visited Scottsdale AZ which is a couple of towns down the valley towards Phoenix. We toured Old Town Scottsdale and really enjoyed it. There was a tour of old buildings that have current business in them. That allowed us to stop at a number of businesses that we may not have gone into. There were lots of touristy shops and many jewelery stores. We stopped at a store selling pictures and the owner took most of the pictures. He was a really good guy and taught me how to use my camera better. Too bad his pictures were too expensive and a little bit over processed. Linda found an ice cream shop that she liked. I of course found the Rusty Spur Saloon. It was in an old bank building and the vault was now the cooler. Very eclectic and busy. Check out my seat at the bar.

After Old Town Scottsdale we went to Talking Stick Resort to try our luck at the casino. Since you can not take pictures in the casino I took one out the end of the parking garage. The next picture is a random sighting at Fry’s supermarket. This is the indian version of Walmart People. You just can not make this shit up!  So; I am thinking of a new look. I saw this personal style in a Fry’s Supermarket in Apache Junction. Mohawk, earrings, reflective stripe on his outer shirt, it’s a tough image to pull off but I think he got it down pat! I think the Mohawk pulls it all together. Of course I have no native indian in my background. Maybe it’s not for me?  Let’s see, a Viking Horned helmut instead of a Mohawk! I think I am on to something.

Now the next pictures were of a little road trip Linda and I took. Linda is good to humor me every now and again. We went to a Biker Bar out in the country on the Gila river. Now out in the country is about 45 minutes away at 60 MPH. Florance is where Arizona has it’s prisons. I guarentee you if you broke out you would be in worse shape than staying in the prison. The Gila river is dry this time of year. The River Bottom Grill was a classic. Decent bar food. Nice picnic area out back and plenty of room to park motorcycles or whatever other mode of transportation you showed up in. Surprisingly there were several RV’s in out front and in the parking area. On the way back I took a few pictures of the landscape.

Of course I had to throw in a Picture of Kacey in the doorway of our RV. She is very photogenic. The last picture on this page is for my neighbor Joe. He is a Vietnam Vet and I pay attention to American Legion Posts in his behalf. Post # 27 was down the street from our resort. It was very busy all the time. The picture shows the outside of the post when there we the least number of cars parking around it. Apparently it is busy in the winter with snowbirds but quiet the rest of the year.

On the next page we are off to Distant Drums.
