Arrival Date 4/15/2015 Parkers Landing RV Park - Biloxi MS, One night , two nights in Parking lot at the Beau while we slummed it in a room at The Beau Rivage Casino!
After the last 3-4 days of torrential downpours and lighting storms we left Gulf Shores and headed to our much anticipated stay in Biloxi. We arrived at Parker’s River RV Park mid afternoon, right after heavy rain had left the area. There was a huge puddle/pond that we would need to drive through to get to out site so we switched to another easier to get to site. Jim worked on the faulty wire connection from the rig to the car for about 3 hours. I was bored after 3-4 days of rain and so with the casinos only a short drive away I headed to the Beau around 7 PM. Played until about 10 PM, no big wins but still basically broke even; nice to be back at the Beau, one of my 2 favorite casino's!!
Thursday AM we headed out to check in at the Beau around 9 AM. Since we didn’t know how long it would take parking the rig, checking in etc we decided to get there early. We had a 12:36 tee time at Fallen Oak after all. Check in and rig parking went incredibly smooth so we were able to bring all our stuff to the room before heading out to Fallen Oak. After about 30 minutes we arrived, beautiful gated entrance, reserved tee time needed to get in. We drove right up to the clubhouse at which point a very nice young man directed us to the locker rooms and advised us that he would “take care of everything”. We headed to the locker rooms where we found lockers with our names on them. Beautiful locker rooms, huge, TV in the sitting area tuned into the Golf channel. Lockers had robes and towels for showers after the round. Our shoes were brought to us having been cleaned with all new spikes added-they looked brand new! Check out the neighboring lockers to Jim Ovist (how did I lose the K). Boo Weekley, Jim Ovist, Peyton Manning (below) Tommy Maddox, Bo Jackson, & Larry the Cable Guy. We then headed to the practice area which was huge and beautiful. We hit balls off of grass that that was pristine. Met the starter and headed out to play. The whole experience was unreal. There was no one in front of us for at least 3 holes and the same spacing behind. The greens were perfect and the tees and fairways were the nicest I’ve seen. The course was challenging but not stupid or unfair, it was a long course though, 7600 from the tips with, slopes for both of us were in the 120’s. We never saw any rain although it was predicted. After the round we went to the bar which had huge windows that gave a beautiful panoramic view of the 18th fairway, just spectacular. Also had the best bloody mary I’ve ever had. After a leisurely drink, (or 2), we headed off the find our car parked right outside the door all loaded up with our clean clubs. It was really a magical experience. A little course history. Built by the Beau, designed by Tom Fasio, it was built mostly as a perk to high rollers however anyone staying at the Beau can play there for a hefty greens fee. The Champions tour plays a tournament there and the pros rate the course as the best they play all year. And 40-50 golfers per day is a big day there! After golf we headed back to the Beau, had dinner at the buffet because I thought it was complimentary, only lunch and breakfast were it turns out. Then I went to the casino, Jim went upstairs to watch TV.
Friday after breakfast we picked up our Billy Currington concert tickets and headed out to 2 other casinos to play for a few hours, Imperial Palace and Boomtown. Jim did great playing Blackjack but I did not do so well. We headed back around 5 PM, changed for dinner and had a fabulous meal at the Italian restaurant there, Stalla. Off to the BIlly Currington concert. Their arena was small and there really wasn’t a bad seat in the house. The concert was super great, might have been my favorite ever, what a show. After the concert Jim hit the tables and I hit the slots, we both had good luck! Sat AM we headed off to Waffle House to end our Biloxi stay in style. We are now heading back to NH after a wonderful winter in the south. Can’t wait till next year!!!!
