Point of View Key Largo RV Resort

Arrival Date 2/22/2015 Point of View RV Resort - Key Largo FL

We met back up with the Bournes in Key Largo FL. Back in the keys for the last time on this trip. The Point of view RV Park was a very nice park. Lots of stones versus grass and low shrubs versus trees. Crowded but not on top of each other. Clean with good WIFI. Beautiful beachfront with a big pool. Key Largo is a busy part of the keys so this stay took advantage of beautiful weather and the availability of lots of bars and restaurants. It also helped that we had willing partners (the Bournes) to show us the way. One of the beauties of the keys is lots of bar’s and restaurants on the water. The whole week we were in Key Largo the weather was in the 80’s with blue skys and lots of sunshine. One of the first places we went was Mile Marker 88 Tiki Bar, this was right on the water with fun people watching and a fancinating mix of people playing on the water and birds fishing. They had a very nice sunset. Next up was Snappers Bar and restaurant. fun place on the water with a marina. They had funky sign decorations and a singer performing on a boat in the marina. Further down the dock was a second bar called the Turtle club. We went there another day. One afternoon we went to Sharkey’s Pub and Galley Restaurant which was on a canal fairly close to the RV Park. While we were there the real African Queen of Humphery Bogart fame cruised down the canal. It turns out it is a local attraction. You just can’t make this stuff up.

Another day we went to the Pilot house Restaurant and marina. After lunch a pair of manatees swam down the marina and Linda and Lennie Bourne befriended one by giving it fresh water. What a sight. Another night we went out to see a magician at the Sundowners restaurant. Nice place bar on the water, the Rockin Magic of Michael Trixx was performed at the end of the patio. He was really good, I hate when I can not figure out how he does the tricks. There was a nice, somewhat upscale bar and restaurant inside that had good pizza.

One afternoon we went to the Florida wild bird center. They rehibilitated birds here and had a lot of clients around. When we arrived Linda could not shut the passenger door on the car. The door hold mechanism had broken. It was a challenge to close the door with out tools. I borrowed a leatherman tool from another visitor and temporarily repaired the door. When we got to Ft Myers; Toyota finished the repair. The bird center was great. Lots of caged and rehibilated birds and a nice view out over the gulf.

Next to the RV resort there was a really good place to get hambergers called the Sub Pub. Behind it was another good place on the water called Category 3. The last day we went to drinks and dinner at Snook’s Bayside. What a nice place and who new it was a special night. They had a local artists open air market set up and a band performing including a finale with Hula and Firedancers. Quite a week in Key Largo.
